Getting To Know The Twins in Moonstone Secrets

Getting To Know The Twins in Moonstone Secrets

From time to time, I let others share their stories on my blog. Today, welcome back Dawn V. Cahill as she interviews identical twins Livy and DeeDee McCreary, singers and dancers extraordinaire, who star in her new novel Moonstone Secrets – sequel to Sapphire Secrets. Dawn V. Cahill: DeeDee, since this is your story, why don’t we start with you? Tell us why you want to share your story with the world. DeeDee: Picture this—a

Behind the Scenes with Author Marian Merritt

Behind the Scenes with Author Marian Merritt

In a world where authors invest hours creating complex characters with unique quirks and set them loose into an adventurous romp through the pages, well sometimes the author becomes anonymous. And yet, we authors have our own unique likes, dislikes, and fun facts. So today, I’d like to take you behind the scenes with Marian Merritt with what she calls “Ten Things.” Ten Things she likes a lot: Jesus My Family Sunshine Rain Snow –

Behind the Scenes: Standalone or Series?

Behind the Scenes: Standalone or Series?

As part of my resolve to keep my focus this year, I’ve begun work on a new book and am right in the middle of the fun part of writing. The dreaming. The imagining. The getting to know my characters and launching them on a journey. But one question many have asked is if I’m writing a standalone or series. My first published novel, Catch of a Lifetime, is a “stand alone” book. A complete story

Too Many Books?

Too Many Books?

If it wasn’t for the virtual bookshelves on my Kindle app, my fiction addition would be more obvious and require more square footage. I already have three super-tall bookcases in the basement that are so loaded you have to move the sideways books at the front to spot those in the back. Add a small bookshelf in my bedroom next to a comfy chair, another with writing craft books in my office, and a stack on

Refocusing on Fiction

In just four and a half weeks, I’ll be on a plane to St. Louis to attend the ACFW (American Christian Fiction Writers) Conference. In addition to rubbing shoulders with other writers, meeting editors and agents, and learning from some of the best teachers in the industry, two of my novel manuscripts are Finalists in the Genesis contest for unpublished (in fiction) authors and the winners will be announced at the Gala on Saturday night.

The Emotional Stages of Writing a Book

Writing a book is quite an emotional journey. Don’t believe me? Watch this author’s video about the stages a writer goes through when writing a book. (And it doesn’t even include the highs and lows we put our characters through!) This is what I do by choice during my free time. Is it worth it? You bet. (Even the editing … because there’s always another idea waiting around the corner.) Have a super fun Friday!

Book Domino Chain World Record

With my love of books and libraries, I enjoyed seeing this video about an event set up to promote a summer reading program at the Seattle Public Library. I have to admit that if I was one of the organizers, I would have been soooo tempted to read a little bit of every book I set up … or cleaned up. So many books, so little time. Have a super fun Friday!

Things We Say Wrong

Have you ever got in trouble from the grammar police? English is a constantly changing language that is pronounced differently in different parts of the world. Enjoy today’s video reminder about things we say wrong. (In the future, I might have to slip a few of these into dialogue to create realistic characters.) Have a super fun Friday!

What I’m Reading – December

In addition to my Bible and asbestos case depositions for my day job, I’m currently reading: Four Blood Moons by John Hagee – an interesting look at the signs in the heavens that scream that everything is about to change forever. The end is coming and those who are watching will be ready. Stack of Writer’s Digest  and The Writer magazines – now that I finished the rough draft of another novel, it’s time to refill
