Ever taken a road trip? Loaded up the car and headed off on a journey?

This past summer, we loaded three very sleepy kids into a packed minivan and pulled out of our driveway at the extremely dark hour of 3:45 a.m.

Destination? Branson, Missouri for a family vacation. Once there, we’d be staying in a two-bedroom condo at a resort with indoor and outdoor swimming pools and a miniature golf course. Passes to Silver Dollar City Amusement Park awaited us. Plans to take a dinner cruise on Table Rock Lake. More plans to rent a pontoon and do a little fishing/swimming/tubing on the same lake.

But, between here and there? Over 800 miles of countryside rolling past the windows. And 13 hours of family togetherness.

Of course, there are lessons to be learned from taking a road trip and we’ll be unpacking them over the next three weeks. So, to get your juices flowing, what was the last road trip you took? Who went with you? Where were you headed?

    >Candee,

We took a little road trip to Bakersfield to go with hubby while he had a job to do. It was a 3 hour drive each way so it gave us some family bonding time. We took pictures of stuff we found interesting along the way, pulled over and visited things along the way that looked interesting and even completed a couple of car bingo scavenger hunts to pass the time.

It was great fun and a time well remembered. Praying for safe travels for all of you and hope you enjoy your vacation.

    >I love road trips. The last one I took…wow, I really have to think about this to remember. It was before I had kids, so it must have been one with my hubby at the beginning of our relationship. It was a good time of bonding and fun.

This really makes me want to go on another road trip somewhere.

    Have a great weekend!

    >Road trip! The last one I took was much too long ago, sadly. Three years, I think. From Madison, WI to Charleston, SC. Just hubby and me and it was SO much fun! I would love to drive west together someday too.

    >The *longest* one I've taken in 2009 was to San Antonio. We went through Carlsbad and saw the caverns, and proceeded on to see my grandmother. That was a good trip. We have it easy with only one child–no whines of "She's on my side of the line!" "His knee is touching me!" 🙂
