Or, as one proverb reads: “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he”~Proverbs 23:7a (NKJV)

My attitude, good or bad, is affected by my thinking. And vice versa.

What I think about is critical. Because my attitude affects my expectations. How much effort I will invest. How much energy I’ll have. My evaluation of events as they unfold. My emotional reactions to circumstances. My attitude even rubs off on everyone around me.

The amazing thing about my attitude is that I have a choice. I can choose to focus on the good things or shuffle through life like a wounded martyr. Choose to hope instead of fear. Choose to laugh instead of cry. Choose to rejoice instead of complain.

If I can think about the good stuff in life – things that are lovely, noble, pure, right and true – then, as I journey through life, I’m more likely to see the mountain in my path as an opportunity to see the view instead of a roadblock. Now, “positive thinking” doesn’t move that mountain out of my way. It simply makes the journey easier to bear.

My attitude might change my day. And maybe even my life.

Even though I got reamed today at work by a mad parent (I work in a school office), I never lost my good mood, my hopeful perspective. You are right…our attitude can make us or break us!
