Two weeks ago, I was encouraged by the image of resting between God’s shoulders, like a child snuggling on His chest. Today, He’s holding my hand.
“For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.” (Isaiah 41:13 NIV)
I’m encouraged by the words that God will help me. Because I sure need a lot of it! And I’m often filled with fear about what the future holds and if I’m doing a good enough job with what God’s entrusted to me. But with God’s help, I can make it through.
And just in case I didn’t quite believe the spoken message, He takes hold of my hand. To lead me in the direction I should go. To reassure me through a simple touch that He cares. To link us together for the journey ahead. To demonstrate how big and strong and scarred His hand is compared to mine.
God moves beyond mere words to comfort my fearful heart. He holds my hand.
What about you? Are you reassured more by words or by touch? Is it easier to face the challenges knowing He’s holding your hand?
