“He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.” ~Psalm 1:3 NKJV
“For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but her leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit.” ~Jeremiah 17:8 NKJV
What images come to mind when you think about a tree? Towering strength. Fragrant blossoms. Cool shade. Branches to hold swings and birdnests. Juicy fruit. Beautiful fall colors. Snow-covered and sparkling fingers outlined against the blue sky. Roots that dig deep and branches that stretch out.
That’s what I want to be in 2012. I don’t know if the year ahead holds heat or drought, but I know that I want to be firmly planted and nourished by the waters. I want to stay green and grow fruit so I can bless others.
What about you? What is your theme for 2012?
