With that excerpt from the inside cover of Outlive Your Life by Max Lucado, my interest was piqued and I knew what book to pick next from my “To Be Read” pile this summer.
Two thousand years ago, a handful of ordinary men came face to face with Jesus. Fishermen. Tax collector. Zealot. They started a movement that changed the world. Simply because they were willing to take a step when Jesus called their name.
Today, our world still needs hope and we each have the opportunity to make a big difference. And it all begins when we follow God’s call to live out our faith by showing compassion.
As Max Lucado sums it up: “None of us can help everyone. But all of us can help someone. And when we help them, we serve Jesus. Who would want to miss a chance to do that?” Do something today that will outlive your life.
(To see what’s next in the “To Be Read” pile, check back next Wednesday.)
What about you? Do you find yourself overwhelmed with the needs of those around you? What have you done to help others that will last after you are gone?
