If I were honest, my typical answer to this question would focus on the daily stresses and responsibilities that often seem overwhelming. In the middle of the mundane, it’s easy to lose perspective and wonder if God is distant from His creation and if He even cares about the details.
I’m not the first person to ever think this way. In the middle of his suffering, Job’s friends planted seeds of doubt and he started to wonder where God was and why He allowed the pain. God answered with a very blunt statement of facts, saying essentially “I am bigger than all your problems and concerns. Look up and get a fresh perspective.”
Here are a few verses to start but for the even bigger picture, read Job chapters 38 through 41. “Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me. Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea or walked in the recesses of the deep? Have the gates of death been shown to you? Have you seen the gates of the deepest darkness? Have you entered the storehouses of the snow or seen the storehouses of the hail, Who cuts a channel for the torrents of rain, and a path for the thunderstorm, Can you bring forth the constellations in their seasons or lead out the Bear with its cubs? Do you know the laws of the heavens? Can you set up God’s dominion over the earth?” (Job 38:3, 4, 16, 17, 22, 25, 32, 33 NIV)
How big is God?
The same God who was there during Creation is still active and working today. And He promises to never leave our side.
“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” (Romans 1:20 NIV)
Creation declares that God is BIG and therefore enormously bigger than all my troubles.
What about you? How big is God? Can He handle your circumstances?
