First, my faith and trust in the one sovereign and wise God who is in control of the universe. He knows exactly what He’s doing and has the Almighty Power to turn even the hearts of kings for His purposes. I can depend on the fact that He loves me with an everlasting love and has promised to never leave me alone. Not only that, I believe that He has only good plans for my life. Plans to give me a future and a hope.
Speaking of hope, hope reminds me that life on this planet isn’t the end of the road. There is a future date in Divine Court where true justice will prevail and this warped, wicked, and broken world will be restored under the True King. It will all work out in the end … If it isn’t working out, it isn’t the end. When I’m at the end of my rope with my daughter’s autistic behaviors, I hang onto hope that one day she will be made well. When I struggle while the wicked prosper, hope says this situation won’t last forever.
But what do I do in the meantime? Love. Jesus narrowed life down into two commands: love God and love others. While resting on the unshakable foundation of faith and looking ahead with hope, I pour my life out daily in worship and service. By caring for my family’s needs, encouraging a friend, donating my time to those in need, and staying connected to the source of true life.
“And now these three remain; faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians 13:13 NIV)
What about you? What keeps you going on the rough days? How do you balance faith, hope, and love? Which do you think is the most important and why?
