My Word for 2019 is Relationship, but during in my quiet time, the concept of Faith kept popping up over and over and over again. Looking back, I can see that it was partially to prepare me for my husband’s job jump by taking a step of faith (see last week’s blog for those details!).

But the more I’ve thought about it, I’ve discovered the deeper truth that relationship and faith go hand in hand. Focusing on and growing closer in my relationship with God naturally reveals more of the character of the One I have faith in. And as I step out in faith in different circumstances…and find Him already there with blessings in store, that in turn serves to deepen my relationship. And the cycle continues.

In hopes of inspiring you to think deeper about Faith and Relationship, here are a few of the thoughts that have been swirling in my mind lately as gleaned from my journal….

  • God only does the impossible. Do my part and let God do His.
  • Love is our calling card…Faith is our credit card. (Mark Batterson quote)
  • Is anything too hard for the Lord? (Genesis 18:14)
  • Your heavenly Father knows your needs. He will always give you all you need from day to day. (Luke 12:30-31)
  • Faith is unutterable trust in God, trust which never dreams that He will not stand by us.
  • According to your faith, let it be to you. (Matthew 9:29)
  • God alters the inevitable when we get in touch with Him.
  • Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering (i.e. Faith), for He who promised is faithful. (Hebrews 10:23)
  • God has already done it. Will I step into relationship with Him on the basis of His covenant alone before I see the answer?
  • Faith is a tremendously active principle which always puts Jesus first. Lord, You have said ____. It looks crazy, but I am going to venture on Your Word.
  • If you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say… and nothing will be impossible for you. (Matthew 17:20)
  • With men this is impossible, but with God, all things are possible. (Matthew 19:26)
  • I believe, Lord help my unbelief. (Mark 9:24)
  • …as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. (Romans 12:36)
  • There is nothing logical about faith; it is of the nature of life.
  • Go steadily on with what I have told you to do and I will guard your life. Don’t lean on your own understanding, instead trust God with all your heart.
  • What an imperturbable certainly there is about the man who is contact with the real God!
  • The thing that preserves a man from panic is his relationship to God.

And those are just a few highlights from January while God keeps pounding home this truth. Relationship with Him requires Faith…and Faith is only possible when I have a Relationship with Him.

What about you? How strong is your faith? How is faith dependent on a deeper relationship with the One you trust? How can you build your faith?
