Today is the day of Epiphany, the ancient holy day commemorating when the Truth of Jesus was revealed to the three kings/wise men and they presented their gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

And boy could we use some TRUTH in our nation today!

While I’m honestly praying for God’s will to be done in the election outcomes and that He would deliver us and our nation from Evil and the plans of traitors, I’m also reminded of how much last year stole from me personally.

Now, don’t get me wrong. There were a lot of good things that came out of 2020 including a deeper appreciation for family time, relationships, quiet, health, and obliterating my reading goal for the year.

But at the same time, many of my goals and plans were sidelined or sidetracked due to virus restrictions and the resulting nagging sense of anxiety and uncertainty.

So, when it came time to pray for a word for this new year, I felt compelled to re-use 2020’s word and DREAM (again).

And today–Epiphany–is the perfect day to focus on the light in the middle of darkness. To recapture HOPE. To reignite those dormant dreams even if they start out as only a flicker. To pursue the goal even if running the race involves a bunch of baby steps here at the starting line.

What does that look like for me? Well, writing sprints are now measured in 500 word targets starting with my “Turtle Power” hour. Fitness comes down to fifteen minutes of body-weight exercises and a water bottle. Financial savings are now auto-drafted. My calendar got simplified and I’m celebrating the tiny wins daily.

And just a few days into this new plan, I can already feel the renewed energy and excitement building for the rest of the year.

In the middle of darkness, it is possible to find the light and restart the journey forward toward a brighter future.

What about you? What is your word for 2021? Do you have any dreams to reignite this year?
