One of my highlights every week is having coffee with a friend. We’ve set aside time in our busy calendars to get together and chat about everything from faith to family to how we can pray for each other.
It’s a precious time of encouraging and being encouraged. Of laughter and tears and just plain hitting reset in the middle of the chaos to remember that connection matters.
I have less regularly scheduled but equally precious times with a few writer friends. We talk shop when it comes to books and keep each other accountable at the keyboard, but these folks also know my heart and see the struggle to put Truth on the page.
Then there’s family. In the immediate and extended connections, there are the moments when I can just sit and be, knowing I’m loved and accepted. And other moments when I’m challenged to get off the couch and serve.
I really hope you have people like that in your life!
Why? Because God designed us for relationship. For community. For connection.
The wisdom from Ecclesiastes says: ?”Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.” (Eccl. 4: 9-10)
All throughout Scripture, we’re shown the power of a community working together. Even the early Church met together daily as they did life together and the writer of Hebrews warned us to not neglect meeting together.
I need you in life. And you need me. (Or rather, you need someone. But I kinda hope my emails offer a little encouragement for your journey!)
The idea of community is one of the unexpected delights I’ve had while bringing the Cafe on Hope and Main to life. Yes, each book will have a couple in search of personal growth and a Happily Ever After.
But there’s also a supporting cast of characters who… actually support! Who step up when there’s a need. Who comfort and shelter. And tease.
I can’t wait to introduce you to Greta and Clay and Lauren and Kyle and Joel and Frank and Debbie with her twins and Matt and Amanda and … Well, you get the idea. There are a LOT of people living in my brain right now!
Until then, I do need you.
I need prayer. Prayer for the details to come together behind the scenes so I can finally set a release date. Prayer for inspiration to strike as I work through the kinks in the plot of the current story I’m working on. Prayer for wisdom for my (new) editor as she’s about to work on book two.
