Hello from Stress Central,
(Spoiler alert: It’s all good stuff. Just a lot and all at once. And I found the cure for stress too.)
Back when my kids were all in school, May was the best and the worst month ever. Spring weather and blooming flowers and greening up? Yeah! Looking forward to summer’s slower pace? Absolutely!
Enduring the gauntlet of concerts, field trips, field days, awards ceremonies, continuations/graduations, and everything else the teachers forgot to schedule earlier or decided to toss in at the end to keep the kids from going crazy? Exhausting.
Well, I’ve only got the Princess at home now. But somehow she managed to have a special needs dance team recital and Special Olympics soccer tournament scheduled on the same weekend as her Christmas present “let’s go to a Rockies baseball game” from her brother and his wife.
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday events.
Meaning on my feet a lot and no naps to recover.
Add to that the fact we stumbled upon another vacation rental condo for sale just two doors down from one we already own and the price had just dropped into the range we couldn’t pass up.
Long story short, we’re closing tomorrow on the property so my days have also been filled with the necessary tasks of calling utility companies to make the switch, lining up an insurance policy, transferring funds, locating a notary for the remote closing, and so on.
Oh, and I’m trying to write a book!
Like I said, it’s all good. It’s just all at once.
And I’m feeling it.
Thanks to chronic fatigue syndrome, let’s just say stress is not my friend.
Then in the middle of it all, a song came on the radio that just soaked into my spirit with the reminder that I depend on God to see me through. If I can just learn to abide (um, my focus this year which apparently I’d lost sight of between yawns and aches), He’s my strength.
In case you want to look it up or save it on Spotify, it’s called “Abide” by Aaron Williams. (The previous link takes you to YouTube where there’s a lyric video with a gorgeous sunrise, but this one is to Spotify and one of several apparent collaborations he’s done on the same song.)
Bottom line? Jesus is all I need. Especially in the chaotic seasons.
What about you? What song is playing on repeat in your life right now?
